Sgt. Brian Rutherford of the Tallapoosa, Georgia Police Department is flanked by Jamie and Donna Shepherd, representing NACOP during a presentation of a $5,000.00 grant from our organization to Sgt. Rutherford’s department for the purchase and training of a police K-9. Sgt. Rutherford explained that smaller departments are often under-funded for programs that enhance drug enforcement, search and rescue and community relations efforts. The grant comes at a perfect time as the department is preparing to retire their 6-year-old Labrador Retriever, Kay. NACOP, through donations from its generous donors, is attempting to fill this need.
