The Sheboygan County Sheriffs Department asked for support in expanding their K-9 program. They had one multi-purpose (narcotics, tracking, and searching) police dog. The Department's goal to add a second K-9 unit to provide increased K-9 availability. Michael Helmke felt that his job as Sheriff is to provide for the safety and security of the citizens of Sheboygan County. In order to accomplish this, he needed to provide his officers with the proper tools to do their jobs. He felt that a police K-9 is one of the best and most economical programs available to combat the scourge of illegal drug use and a wide array of other criminal activity. You have made a difference.
