 Sergeant Scott Wilson, Assistant Police Chief of Prosperity, South Carolina (pop. 1,500) was on hand to receive a $4,300 grant from the National Association of Chiefs of Police (NACOP) to use for the purchase and training of the city’s first police K-9 who will provide narcotics detection and search and rescue operations. This grant arose from NACOP’s K-9 Program that provides funding obtained from across the United States to departments to add a dog to an existing program or obtain their first K-9. K-9 grants have been provided to police departments in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Michigan and South Carolina.
