About NACOP

The Jasper County Sheriff's Department was in desperate need of a Police K-9. The department was forced to rely on K-9s from neighboring agencies. This situation put the citizens of Jasper County at risk. The delay in the availability of a Police K-9 meant the loss of precious time in locating a lost child, elderly person or fugitive. The National Association of Chiefs of Police (NACOP) joined with the Jasper County Sheriff's Department in a campaign to raise funds to purchase a fully trained Police K-9. NACOP, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, matched donations made to the campaign (up to $5,000 for the entire campaign). The program was able to raise $13,150.00 during the period of October 15th to November 15th, 2003, and provide K-9 support for the Jasper County Sheriff’’s Department.
