The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Department consists of nearly 300 trained deputies and many volunteers. From offering minor roadside assistance; to regular patrol of the streets; to investigative work and specialized services, they are committed to helping make Iberia Parish the best place to live or visit. The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office serves a population of approximately 76,000 people. The mission of the Law Enforcement Division is to protect the lives and property of all citizens, enhance public safety and to provide quality service to all who call upon them. They recognize the trust and confidence the people have placed on them. Included in the Enforcement Division are Patrols, Narcotics, Training and Warrants. In order to rid our parish of drug dealers and users, the narcotics division specializes in early detection and rapid response to this criminal activity. Officers follow-up on public response to the anonymous tip line, work with drug informants, and perform surveillance of suspected persons and sites. They also work with other parishes and municipalities to share information on drug dealers who may travel across parish lines. Also, jump teams perform surprise attacks at suspected drug hangouts. In addition, narcotics officers with the help of a trained drug detection dog make random drug checks at businesses and schools upon request. |
