My name is Eddie McCoy and I am the Chief of Police for Crawford Police department. We are a small department, 1 full time officer (me) 3 part-time officers and 4 reserve officers. Our city population is 705 but because we are the home of President Bush we have seen as many as 6000 people in our city at one time. This brings in all types of people from all over the country to our small city. I wanted to be part of this program so that we could purchase a trained K9 and send an officer to the handler school. I think the K9 will be a big asset to our city in a couple ways, one to help with the growing rural drug problem, and to help the school to be a drug and gun free zone. This K9 will also be close to several other very small cities that do not have access to a K9 and can help narcotic detection for them as well.
