			Charlotte is conveniently located with easy accessibility to Lansing, Battle Creek, and Jackson, within close proximity to I-69, I-96 and I-94. It is a community that values its history, but is always looking to the future. Its historic homes and buildings will remind you of another era, while the state-of-the-art middle school, performing arts center, athletic facilities and aquatic center meet the needs of a technologically advancing world.
				In 2005 the department has was given approval for the development of a trained police dog. The new dog was to be used not only for fighting crime, but also for a special education programs that teach our children the dangers of drug abuse. Trained for drug detection, tracking missing persons or fleeing criminals, building searches, and other functions, the benefits to our community are plain to see. The only obstacle they faced was funding. The program was supported in large part by a local business. This generous donation allowed Charlotte to reach more than 50% of their fundraising goal in one month.
