Mr. Grey had already started to train her when Officer Kelley asked him about narcotics detection dog. Mr. Grey introduced Officer Kelley to Madison and Officer Kelley was convinced that she was the right dog for the job. When Officer Kelley asked his chief about starting a K-9 program using the already certified Madison, the chief was supportive but because of budget constraints was not able to provide funding. This is where the community and the National Association of Chiefs of Police stepped up and filled the gap. The enthusiasm form the program was tremendous and they were able to raise an amazing $20,929.05. Combined with the match from NACOP, Bandera had one of the most successful K-9 Matching Gift programs to date. |
